The Broken Can Be Fixed-Poetry

The Broken Can Be Fixed: By Kacie Lampman

Can you see yourself in the mirror over there?
Can you see the bruises that you have or must I point them out,
Can you see the scars you have left right there on your arm,
Can you see how you truly look?
Like the mess that you try hide, but you can't

Those drugs you say you love, change you
They make you someone new, someone bad
Those scars right there on your arm, you created them
And those bruises, they are so big almost the size of my fist
You seem to be as bad as the thunderstorm outside

I need you to be okay, to survive today, for as long as you can
I want to be the one who helps lead your way through the dark alley
I feel that I need to be the voice inside your head telling you its okay
But I can't find the words to say,
The words that need to be said,

Do I stand here and watch you die
Or do I just cry for you as I watch you suffer everyday
I hate feeling like I'm on the sidelines of your life making it worse,
I feel as the need to scream in your face and say stop it is okay
The need to get on my knees and pray

I want to show you the way,
Show you who can truly take away your pain
The voice I love to hear say its okay in my head
I want you to hear too
That voice is the voice of my god
